RIO 2016
El viernes 2 de Octubre se conocía la ciudad que albergará los Juegos de 2016. Se cumplía una vez más la regla no escrita de la "rotación de continentes". Por el camino quedaban varias ciudades, unas no pasaron de ser "aspirantes" y tres de ellas se quedaron con el apelativo de "candidatas": Madrid, Chicago y Tokio.
Sinceramente, la candidatura madrileña parecía de lejos la mejor preparada y más ilusionada. Chicago era probablemente la más apetecible económicamente hablando y Tokio, que ya fue organizadora de los juegos de 1964 era la que contaba con menor apoyo popular (factor clave para el CIO).
Al margen de otras consideraciones, Brasil es hoy en día una economía emergente, y en los Juegos de 2016 representará a toda Latinoamérica, continente que nunca antes había acogido la cita olímpica. En Sao Paulo está la cuarta bolsa de valores por capitalización de todo América, tras la NYSE, el Nasdaq y Toronto Stock Exchange; se trata de BM&F BOVESPA.
Así pues, queda un poco más de 6 años para que la ciudad de Rio se convierta durante el verano en el centro del mundo. Queda ver si finalmente la ciudad da un salto de calidad en lo que a infraestructuras y seguridad se refiere.
